Welcome to my foodie blog. Half of it is dedicated to sharing the healthiest, sugar-free, wholesome recipes ever. The other half is, um, dedicated to the yummiest recipes ever (aka the ones full of sugar and butter and diabetes).
Each recipe title is marked with “Clean” or “Cheat”. Anything that has butter, white sugar, brown sugar, all-purpose flour, shortening, etc. will be marked as “Cheat”. The “Clean” recipes are free of all of the ingredients I just listed.

Oh, and here’s my story:
I really love eating, and I’ve always enjoyed baking. In 2013 and at the beginning of 2014, I’d bake once every few months, but I really enjoyed it. I’d spend so much time watching SORTED Food on Youtube (and I still do) and printing out all their recipes. They’re still my #1 favorite food community place thing. Anyways, it was the summer of 2014 that seriously changed my life – for the better, of course.
At the beginning of 2014, I found myself struggling through everything. It’s pretty personal, but anyways, not eating right was one of the issues. I went through those cycles of binging and starving and was absolutely miserable, especially since I saw no results.
When summer vacation started that year, I was just Instgramming as usual. I came across one of Jenna McDougall’s (the lead singer of the band Tonight Alive) pictures. There was something about this company called Organic Burst or something. Naturally, I checked out their Instagram and website. It all seemed pretty interesting. They shared photos of the most beautiful breakfasts ever.
For the first 2 weeks (I’m not even exaggerating) of my summer vacation, I sat before my laptop and marveled at this whole idea of “clean-eating”. I read about superfoods and vitamins and minerals and I watched Forks Over Knives and Vegucated and I bookmarked hundreds of recipes of sugar-free desserts. Then, I went on vacation in Europe for a month and ran into every health store I saw (since there are none in Beijing) and stocked up on superfoods (including Organic Burst!). When I got back, I was more than ready to change my diet – and therefore – my lifestyle.
I tried oatmeal and nana ice cream and went to the gym and ran 10k’s and baked and baked and baked. I learned about food photography and lighting and aperture and shutter speed. I instagrammed all my food and met so many new friends. I didn’t count calories and felt light and energetic and was never bloated. I meditated once every few days. I got up at sunrise everyday (during summer vacation!) while still getting at least 8 hours of sleep. I never weighed myself much, but I could tell that I was gaining muscle and losing fat.
I’m so much happier now than I ever was before. I eat tons of fruits and veggies. I bake approximately 2-4 times a week on school weeks and everything’s just pretty great. Most of the stuff I bake is clean, but I think that one of the most important things to remember about having this clean-eating, plant-based diet is that treating yourself on occasion is just as important as eating spinach! ^_^
